In order to visit Port of Spain in Trinidad and Tobago, US citizens must have a passport with at least 6 months validity and one or more blank pages. If visiting for less than 90 days, US citizens don’t need a visa for business or tourism purposes. However, your passport must be in machine-readable condition, which means it can’t have water damage, torn pages, excessive aging, or other defects.
The quickest way to get around Port of Spain is by private taxi; however, public buses run by the PTSC and privately owned maxi taxis are the most affordable options. Maxi taxis are similar to minivans and give visitors the opportunity to chat with locals and see the city up close and personal. Most public buses and maxi taxis depart from the City Gate and use the Priority Bus Lane when traveling to neighboring Arima.
Piarco International Airport (POS) is the biggest airport in Trinidad & Tobago, and serves direct flights from over 20 airports around the world.
