Seychelles was pretty much desolate until the 17th century, when British settlers eyed the country for occupancy. By the end of the 18th century, the islands were under British rule and citizens worked to build up the islands as they are known to travelers today.
Today when your flight to Seychelles arrives, you’ll be amidst115 islands. The year-round tourist destination welcomes weary travelers disembarking Seychelles flights for some rest and rejuvenation at one of the island’s resorts. The miles of soft sand beaches and crystal-blue waters grace the Seychelles coastline offering visitors a chance at windsurfing, sailing, or just a bit of solitude. While the islands are blessed by tropical landscapes, travelers on Seychelles flights can also find a wealth of African culture in the food, clothes and music of Seychelles.
Longtime visitors booking flights to Seychelles know that since the 1960s, the islands were established as the top luxury destination in Africa. Despite recent economic drawbacks, committed travelers to the area continue to book Seychelles flights and resort accommodations for holiday and vacation travel. Tourism remains high but in competition with more budget-friendly destinations like Madagascar and Mauritius.

- Aldabra Atoll: While the Aldabra Atoll remains an intriguing sight for most, it’s only attainable for the very eager. One of the worlds largest raised coral atolls, it ranges 21 miles from east to west, and is surrounded by a tidal lagoon filled with tiger sharks, manta rays, sea birds, and turtles. The only people who live on it are scientists, and but if you’re booking your Seychelles flight with determination to see the Aldabra, you can request permission from the Seychelles Island Foundation (SIF) and stay in one of the eight accommodations on its surface. It’s no easy task to get there: Your Seychelles flight will land at a remote airport on Assomption Island, and then you’ll ride the Indian Ocean explorer 17 miles to your destination.
- Cousin Island: For those booking flights to Seychelles with game-viewing in mind, Cousin Island is the place to go. With 300,000 birds in a half-mile diameter, you can’t go wrong. Seven species of sea birds including fairy terns, white tailed tropic birds, and shearwater birds fly all over the island, making bird watching an easy exploit. Organized tours from Praslin run from Tuesday through Friday.
- La Digue: Known for its clear, green waters, and smooth, white sand, La Digue is an island that should top your Seychelles travel agenda. Smooth granite rocks fill the beaches on this barely-developed island. Everything here moves more slowly, including clocks, cars, and locals. For an escape like no other, book flights to Seychelles and head straight to La Digue.
- Celebrations: People come from all over the world to celebrate in Seychelles-style. If you’re planning your Seychelles flight around Catholic holidays, there are plenty of opportunities to celebrate with the locals: Easter, Corpus Christi, Assumption, and Immaculate Conception are all taken very seriously and welcome travelers to participate in the fun. For nonreligious travelers, book flights to the Seychelles in October, when the Festival of Kreol showcases fine cuisine, high-end fashion, and authentic art, music and dance.
