Here’s the thing about airport hotels: you shouldn’t be able to hear what’s going on outside your own room. Jet noise, traffic commotion what what’s happening down the hall should all be blessedly absent.
Renaissance Newark Airport Hotel understands. The 397-room property just put the finishing touches on a multi-million dollar renovation. While there have been some nice cosmetic touches aimed at sprucing up the place, it’s basic blocking and tackling that may make the most difference. Consider: Renaissance worked with sound engineers to replace every window in the hotel, with the aim of rendering them sound-resistant.
To better condition the air, the hotel installed a four-pipe system that lets guests use heating or air conditioning, no matter what the season. More? How about more room. Guest rooms have been re-worked to yield two feet more space per room.
In each room you’ll find refrigerators, laptop safes, connectivity panels, and 37-inch high-definition television sets.
Hungry? The Hotel’s Ironbound Grill sports a new menu these days. It reflects cuisine native to the folks who live in the community: Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese. The Renaissance also brings in bread from area bakeries, the better to localize the menu.
To help you work off the inches you may have put on in the restaurant, there’s a fitness center. No excuses: it’s open 24/7.
Nearby Newark Liberty International Airport is the major East Coast hub for United Airlines. The carrier recently merged with Continental.
