It’s time to get away to sunny Florida!

Here are six suggested stops from the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau:

  • The Boardwalk: There’s a lot to like about Fort Lauderdale and the surrounding area, not the least of which is the two-and-a-half-mile boardwalk. See and be seen at this south Florida spot.
  • Snorkeling: Get in the water and explore Lauderdale-By-The-Sea’s tri-tiered reef. The waters are full of interesting underwater sights.
  • Ally-Oop Skim Florida: If you prefer to see the sea from the surface, Lauderdale-By-The-Sea is also the site of Ally-Oop Skim Florida. Learn the art of skimboarding from the experts. Choose how you’d like to learn.  Ally Oop offers day camps and clinics. Lessons are available any day of the week by appointment.
  • SunTrust Sunday Jazz Brunch: Take out your ear buds and listen to the sounds of the SunTrust Sunday Jazz Brunch.  The setting is Riverwalk in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Dig into the roots of the music at the Old Dillard Museum where you can take in the exhibition Jazz: Language of the Soul. It’s housed in the museum’s Jazz Roomhouses. The space is the perfect gathering place for intimate live music performances.
  • Fern Forest Nature Center: Want to see south Florida’s landscape the way it was? This nature center can transport you to another time and place.  It’s a 247-acre urban wilderness area complete with – as the name suggests – more than 30 ferns. The setting is serene and green, the perfect counterpoint to the nearby city.
