In a wave of what seems to be a possibly offensive movement for airlines to gain profit off larger passengers, Ryanair follows in the footsteps of United Airlines and others that impose an extra charge for customers who don’t exactly “fit” the bill.

Will you be able to fly Ryanair once the discerning weight rules are implemented?

Here’s how the carrier plans to measure its fliers (some measurements are metric):

-    Charge per kg, for males that weigh more than 286 pounds (130kg/20stone) and females that weigh more than 220 pounds (100kg/15 stone)
-    Charge per inch for every waist inch over 45 inch (male) and 40 inch (female)
-    Charge for every point over 40 for Body Mass Index (more than 30 points = obese)
-    Charge for a second seat if passengers simultaneously touch both arm rests

Here in the USA, Ryanair isn’t prevalent, but if you’re backpacking through Europe, then you might use Ryanair for cheap flights to Rome or flights to Paris, from wherever you start out.
