Miami is one of the great cities in the country to celebrate New Year’s Eve. Believe it. Here are the places to see and be seen on December 31. Among them:

–         Bay Front Park, where they’re throwing a free New Year’s bash. There’s a DJ dance party with Tony the Hitman, followed up at midnight by fireworks. New York has the ascendant big ball at Times Square to mark the moment of midnight. Miami has La Gran Naranja, the Big Orange. It’s in the south end of Bay Front Park, on the side of the Intercontinental Hotel.

–         In Midtown Miami there’s a live video stream out of Time Square at the Ricochet Bar & Lounge. Admission is free and the beat is provided courtesy of DJ Turk.

–         Over in Miami Beach the party ramps up at Ocean Drive and 8th. Music suffuses the southern Florida night, and fireworks punctuate the celebration.

–         If you want to just keep on keeping on check out SOBE Live. A slew of night clubs are serving up drinks and dinner. Hip hop keeps things fluid, moving deep into the evening.

–         Nikki Beach’s Venetian Carnival is a party out on the sand, replete with its own fireworks display. General admission of $75 includes a champagne toast and party favors.

–         The legendary Fontainebleau is putting on a fabulous pool party from 9 p.m. till 1 a.m. There’s a premium open bar from 9 till midnight.

–         Meanwhile, over at the W Hotel, at WALL, Swedish DJ and music producer Otto Knows holds forth. This is a late one. You can party from 11 a.m. on the 31st all the way to 5 a.m. on the 1st.
