LAN Argentina and LAN Ecuador will join the oneworld airline alliance on April 1, the same day Japan Airlines (JAL), Malev Hungarian Airlines, and Royal Jordanian Airlines enlist.

The Latin American airlines will offer a full range of services and benefits to oneworld customers, and complement the presence of LAN Peru, and Chilean carriers LAN Airlines and LAN Express in the global grouping.

Five JAL affiliates will also sign up to the alliance on April 1 in its biggest expansion since it was formed in 1999. The partnership will soon link nearly 700 airports in almost 150 countries with a remarkable 9,000 daily departures – over 1,000 more than at present.

Hong Kong’s Dragonair will also join the alliance later in the year.

“oneworld is delighted to be welcoming LAN Argentina, LAN Ecuador, and Dragonair on board the alliance,” said John McCulloch, the Managing Partner.

“With our extensive presence in Latin America already, the addition of LAN Argentina and LAN Ecuador strengthens oneworld’s position as the leading alliance serving this region.”

Frequent fliers with LAN Argentina and LAN Ecuador will be able to redeem their accumulated miles with all of the oneworld airlines from April, and those with either Emerald or Sapphire status will be able to access more than 400 airport lounges worldwide.
