There’s a reason America is called the “fast food nation” – on just about any corner in any city, you’ll find another fast food restaurant offering super-sized meals. While it’s hard to avoid the lure of easy to-go cuisine, especially when traveling, the reality is that it’s not healthy and really won’t help fight hunger in the long run.

Today’s airports are filled with fast food and restaurant chains offering a quick and easy meal before your flight. From French fries to pizza to burgers and beers, it’s always convenient to grab a little something tasty during your run through the concourse. But how about tempting those taste buds with something a little healthier?

How can you eat healthy at the airport? We pulled the top fast food chains in the country, which also have
prominent placements in most airports, and rated their healthy fast-food options for you.

Since many airlines have stopped serving food on flights, fast food is
often the only alternative travelers have — but fast food can serve up
some healthy options. Thanks to an increase in demand from
health-conscience travelers, low-fat and low-calorie options are
prominent on many fast food chain menus.

Check out these healthy fast food menus before your next trip to the airport and before you buy, think about what you’re asking your body to digest before  a long flight (your seat-neighbor will thank you, too).
