The world’s No. 1 search engine may be interested in adding a travel section to its repertoire. While no confirmations have been made, some news sources and online travel experts have begun anticipating its arrival.

The new addition would likely offer a convenient means to research travel, but would be unlikely to offer fares, or allow reservations made through the site.

Currently, search engines are the primary source for directing people to online travel sites – which Google would continue to do, since it may not offer bookings.

Right now, it offers links to hotels on its maps application, and when users plug in dates and cities, they are provided with other travel sites that offer fare-comparison and booking options.

Other experts speculate that Google will make a $1 billion purchase for ITA software. While no confirmations have been made yet, you can keep checking for updates on Cheapflights News and Views blog.
