Halloween in Hershey is about more than kisses. This coming Halloween weekend the place is alive with slightly ghoulish entertainment, cutting-edge rides and re-imagined family favorites like the Nightmares Carousel.

Hersheypark in the Dark sports more than 50 rides in all. The screams you hear from time to time probably come from one of the park’s 10 roller “ghosters.” Follow the screeches to creations like the sooperBOOperLooper and Ichabod’s Coaster Train. Rides take on a whole new edge to them during Halloween, the kind that will have you hollering for more.

The Halloween holiday brings entertainment to town, too. Acts such as Bunsen and the Burners belt out favorites like Witch Doctor; Screaming Mummies make you quake to the Clap for the Wolfman; and The Ghoul Getters put on paranormal puppet shows.

This is a family-targeted deal, manageably scary but just tame enough. The folks at Hershey seem to have gotten the recipe just right. Consider Hershey’s Trick-or-Treat Adventure for kids 12 and under. It gets underway at Hershey’s Chocolate World and proceeds to Hersheypark, in Treatville. Along the way kids get to gather snack-sized goodies for their trick-or-treat bags.

Aside from the Halloween doings there are other seasonally themed goings on, like the Pumpkin Glow at Hershey Gardens, and activities at the Hershey Story Museum and Hershey Theater.

If you’re staying at the Hershey Lodge, The Hotel Hershey or Hershey Highmeadow Campground, you can reap a bunch of benefits: best prices on Hersheypark in the Dark tickets, free shuttle service (beats finding a place to park), admission to area attractions and more.
