Caribbean Airlines’ transatlantic offering expanded this week as a code-sharing agreement with British Airways came into effect.

Fliers can now reach London Gatwick from Port of Spain, the capital of Trinidad and Tobago, via Barbados.

The Atlantic leg of the route is served by a Boeing 777, with a 737 operating on Caribbean’s inter-island links. The Trinidadian carrier also flies to Miami International and New York JFK.

“Caribbean Airlines is delighted to partner with the prestigious world-class carrier British Airways, to service this important route,” said Peter Davies, Chief Executive of Caribbean.

“Our customers will reap several valuable benefits from this improved service, including increased consistency, competitive ticket prices, the comfort of traveling on a Boeing 777 aircraft, wider seats, more legroom and a range of entertainment facilities.”

Frequent fliers with the Caribbean Miles program can also redeem and collect points on British Airways flights to and from London, he confirmed.

Through May 1, the airline will also operate three Airbus A340 flights per week to London Heathrow, as the Caribbean is hosting the Cricket World Cup.
