Atlantic City Airport is keen to attract new airlines as the completion date of upgrade work draws near.
The airport’s new $24.5 million parking garage, with spaces for 1,400 vehicles will be complete next month and complement the $100 million invested in runways and terminal upgrades over the past 15 years.
Kris Kolluri, Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Transportation, said that the new garage and previous upgrade work will hopefully see more carriers add flights to the city.
He told the New Jersey Business Journal: “We have the land mass, we have the right airport capital investments and the ability from an airspace standpoint to attract new service.”
Services to Boston and destinations in the Midwest are being sought by the airport, with officials currently suggesting that carriers move some flights from Newark Liberty International and Philadelphia to Atlantic City.
Atlantic City is currently served by 24 weekly flights to Myrtle Beach from Spirit Airlines following the cancellation of Delta services to the casino destination last year.
