While many travel packages exist for the ladies (girlfriend getaways, anyone?), men need time to recharge, too. Whether you’re looking for a Father’s Day retreat or a summer getaway with the guys, here are six great destinations for your next mancation.
Aspen, Colo.
Aspen offers action-packed activities throughout the year, whether you prefer catching powder in the winter or concerts and rock climbing in the summer. Longer trips should include a day or two in Denver, one of the top craft beer cities in the U.S.
Bangkok, Thailand
What happens in Bangkok stays in Bangkok. Here, you and the guys can dare to eat fried scorpions from a street-side cart, drink Chang beer, feast on cheap Thai food and enjoy buckets filled with mystery cocktails on the legendary Khao San Road. In the evenings, there’s no shortage of nightclubs or events offering what’s sure to be a wild night. During the day, you might even get some sightseeing done at the numerous temples that line the city.
Las Vegas, Nev.
If Bangkok is a little too far, keep your debauchery stateside in Las Vegas. Sin City offers enough variety to fit your group’s style, whether you want to spend your time hitting up pool parties, blackjack tables, nightclubs or world-class restaurants.
Jamaica
A guy’s getaway to Jamaica might include a trip to Dunn’s River Falls, where you can climb the waterfalls, and Appleton Estate, where you and the boys can take a tour of this rum factory. If you’re more adventurous, you can zipline through the Jamaican jungles or opt for an excursion through Green Grotto Caves, home to nine species of Jamaican bats.
Norfolk, Va.
Spend a weekend boating, fishing or exploring historical landmarks like the U.S.S. Wisconsin and MacArthur Memorial in Norfolk, Va. There are also plenty of festivals for you and the guys to enjoy, including May’s Virginia Beer Festival and Harborfest and the Bayou Bugaloo & Cajun Festival in June.
Dublin, Ireland
If you and the guys are drinkers, you won’t want to miss a pilgrimage to one of the top drinking cities in the world: Dublin. Here, you can tour the Guinness Storehouse and the Old Jameson Distillery. History buffs will enjoy touring the Irish castles near the capital city, and in town, you’ll find plenty of bars for watching sports and live music.
