Want to wring the most out of your trip to Toronto? Consider bundling the experience. Toronto CityPASS gets you into the city’s top five attractions and saves you 42 percent in the process.
- To set the stage for the adventures to come, ascend the 1,136 feet of the CN Tower and take in the view. To one side there’s the city, to the other the far reaches of Lake Ontario. Be sure to spend some time on the Glass Floor level and take in the 3-D film.
- The Royal Ontario Museum is a gem, especially if you love natural history. Forget about this summer’s temperatures and immerse yourself in the Ice Age of Mammals. This exhibit encompasses more than 400 North and South American specimens – including 30 extinct mammal fossil skeletons from the Cenozoic Era (that’s 65 million years ago for those keeping count).
- You’re forgiven if you mistake Casa Loma for a larger-than- life set out of a Harry Potter film. All the turrets, whimsical gardens and parapets are, however, very real – part ‘n parcel of the former estate of Sir Henry Mill Pellatt, a prominent Toronto financier and military man. Building the place took 300 workers almost three years.
- The Toronto Zoo is magnificent, no exhibit more so than the Gorilla Rainforest. See a family of Western lowland gorillas thrive and kick back. Nassir, born back in 2009, is the latest addition to the group.
- The Ontario Science Centre is Canada’s premier exploration enclave. Take the kids along on this one, even (well especially) if they’re in their teens. The Weston Family Innovation Centre is perfect for the age group. There’s also a terrific KidSpark section for children eight and under.
