Are mornings hard until you’ve had your caffeine fix? Do your loved ones know better than to bother you before your morning latte? Would you travel the world just to sip the finest cup of coffee known to man?

Then, start packing. You won’t forget the coffee in these caffeine-laden locales.

Seattle

America’s caffeine capital has brought forth many of our most beloved coffee chains, including Tully’s Coffee, Seattle’s Best Coffee and, most famously, Starbucks. Coffeehouses rule the streets of Seattle, and you’ll find parking lots throughout the region are also peppered with drive-thru shacks where you can get your fix. Whether you decide to stop in for a sip at the original Starbucks location at Pike Place or check out the plethora of independent chains throughout the city, you won’t have to look far for a fine cup of joe.

Vienna

While Seattle may be one of the first cities that comes to mind when you think of caffeinated locales, it’s Vienna whose coffee culture was named an intangible heritage by UNESCO. Coffeehouses are a way of life in the Austrian capital and are always filled with marble tables, Thonet chairs and a plethora of global newspapers. Rather than grabbing a latte on the run, coffeehouses in Vienna are meant for hours of conversation, card games or writing while savoring one of dozens of caffeinated drink options.

Costa Rica

You’ll find coffee throughout this country, but one of the best coffee experiences here is a tour of one of the local coffee farms. In Costa Rica, you can actually watch the entire coffee process, from planting the seeds to harvesting the cherries to roasting and finally ending with the perfect cup of coffee. More thorough guided tours will also take your barista skills to the next level with hands-on guidance in everything from storing coffee to making artisan coffee drinks in your own home.

Melbourne

Coffee houses have been an institution in Melbourne for nearly an entire century, making Melbourne the caffeinated equivalent to Seattle Down Under. You don’t have to walk far through the city to smell the enticing aroma of freshly roasted espresso beans as cafes dot the streets throughout Melbourne. The cafes of Melbourne are full of character, from kitschy to designer, so feel free to wander Melbourne and let the scent of coffee grounds – and the designed storefronts – guide you to the perfect cup of joe.
