Airport Overview

Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC) is just 4.5 miles from downtown Anchorage in Alaska. It is an important airport in Alaska and was named after the local US Senator Ted Stevens, who served in the Senate from 1968 until 2009.

Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport has two terminals: the South Terminal handles domestic traffic and the North Terminal is used for international flights. The terminals have a selection of shops, restaurants and facilities making for a pleasant airport experience. There’s even a freezer storage facility at the airport.

The airport is a hub for Alaska Airlines, PenAir, as well as two cargo carriers. Flights to Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport are easy to book on several North American carriers and the airport has direct flight connections to many major cities in the United States.

Terminal Transfer

The North and South terminals are a short walk from each other and connected via a walkway. There is also a free shuttle that operates every 15 minutes.

Getting into Town

Taxi: Taxis are available outside the North and South Terminals.

Bus: There are a number of private shuttle companies operating from the airport as well as the Municipality of Anchorage People Mover Bus. The People Mover, route seven, stops at the airport outside both terminals, every 30 minutes between 6am and 11pm. The bus alternates between downtown Anchorage and the Dimond
Center.

Car Parking

There are four parking options at Ted Stevens Anchorage International, as well as a cell-phone waiting area for drivers waiting to pick up passengers. Short-term parking is available opposite the South Terminal. Airport parking is free for the first 30 minutes. The short-term parking outside the North Terminal has the same charges up to three hours.

Long-term parking is just beyond the short-term car park. The cheapest parking option at Anchorage International Airport is the Park, Ride and Fly Lot, which is located next to the cell-phone waiting area. The lot is serviced by an airport shuttle, which comes on demand via the telephones located in the parking area.

Information Desks

Information desks are located in the North and South terminals. In the South Terminal the information desks are on level one and in the C concourse. There is also a visitor information kiosk in the A concourse. The North Terminal’s information desk is located in the lobby. The desks are generally staffed from 9am until 4pm and offer a range of services including airport information and tourist brochures.

Conference and business: There are no conference or business facilities at the airport.
