Airport Overview

Adelaide Airport is the fifth-busiest in Australia, and handles approximately 7 million passengers annually. The airport was established in 1955, and the updated international and domestic terminal was opened in 2005. The airport has received numerous awards, including world’s second-best international airport, in the five to 15 million passengers category, in 2006; and in the same year, it was crowned Capital City Airport of the Year at the Australian Aviation Industry Awards in Cairns.

The expansive terminal building can cope with up to 27 aircraft, including an A380 Airbus, at the same time. There are airline lounges, 14 aerobridges, 42 desks for check-ins and over thirty shops.

Terminal Transfer

Adelaide Airport consists of just one multi-story terminal building, with elevators to move between the levels.

Getting into Town

Train: There are no train services from the airport; however, there are bus-links to nearby rail stations.

Bus: The Adelaide Metro operates several buses connecting the airport to a number of locations in Adelaide. Additionally, Skylink Adelaide also runs a shuttle bus from the airport to central Adelaide.

Taxi: Find the taxi rank directly in front of Terminal 1. In addition to the meter fare, passengers will be liable for a AUD 2 levy for taxis leaving the airport.

Car Parking

There are car parks at Adelaide Airport, and passengers or visitors will be charged by the hour, or per day in the long-term parking lot.

Information Desks

There is an information desk in Terminal 1. Airport Ambassadors, in burgundy jackets, can be found in the baggage claim hall on the ground floor and in the main check-in hall on Level 2.

Airport Facilities

Money and communications: There are two Travelex bureau de change in the airport, as well as a number of ATMs that accept most major bank and credit cards.

Luggage: Lockers can be found near the car rental offices in the Terminal 1 car park.

Conference and business: The conference facilities at Adelaide Airport are provided by Qantas Meeting Rooms.

Other facilities: Currency exchange and ATMs, medical emergency services, children’s play area (beside Hudson’s Coffee), prayer room.

Wi-Fi: Internode provides free Wi-Fi internet access throughout the airport.

Food and drink: The airport has a wide range of restaurants and eateries for passengers to choose from. These include 1862 Bar, Billie Chu, Cibo Espresso, Dreamy Donuts, Hungry Jack’s Burgers and Icons of South Australia.
