Hotel chain Wyndham Worldwide has been named as one of the world’s most admired companies by Fortune Magazine.

The chain, which boasts over 7,000 franchised hotels, was voted the second most respected company in Fortune Magazine’s Most Admired Companies for 2009 chart.

Taking the runner-up position in the hotels, casinos and resorts category, Wyndham was recognized for its commitment to service and hospitality.

Stephen P Holmes, chairman and chief executive officer of the company, said: “Wyndham Worldwide is honored to join such world renowned and global leaders on the Most Admired list.

“As a company, we look forward to celebrating many more of these accomplishments as we continue to drive success through exceptional customer service and strong operational and financial performance.”

Southwest Airlines was the only U.S. carrier to make it in to the list and ranked at 13th.
