It’s not going to do away with pesky problems, but a new tool at Washington Dulles International (IAD) could help the D.C. megaport better handle Washington flight delays.
The Delayed Aircraft Assistance Program™ (DAAP) is a Web-based system built by PASSUR Aerospace. Company president Jim Barry contends DAAP “gives airports the information and the tools they need to react and assist carriers quickly and flexibly” to delays. The idea is to “ultimately diminish the dislocation of passengers.”
Specifically, PASSUR Aerospace says DAAP “provides onscreen and e-mail information and alerts for flights experiencing extended ground delays off the gate, and tools to communicate, coordinate and manage these events in real time.”
In short, the DAAP allows major players to better communicate with one another, this with the aim of easing passenger pain out on the tarmac.
