Staff at Van Nuys Regional Airport will host a Valentine’s Day charity drive to raise money for homeless families.

The “Caring Counts” event is sponsored by Clay Lacy Aviation and will see employees at the airport donate travel-size cosmetic and personal hygiene products for local homeless shelters.

Items collected through the first month of the drive will go to San Fernando Valley’s largest nonprofit poverty and homeless organization, Meet Each Need with Dignity (MEND).

Brian Kirkdoffer, President of Clay Lacy Aviation, said: “Pilots and flight crews, who routinely pack travel-size toiletry items, are the ideal target for this campaign.

“Through our efforts, we hope to demonstrate that even a small act of kindness can bring great comfort to individuals and families in need.”

Marianne Haver Hill, Executive Director of MEND welcomed the drive, commenting: “These donations will help provide individuals and families in crisis essential needs and a sense of dignity so they can begin to transform their lives.”
