Yesterday, the US House of Representatives passed a bill that will push for more stringent guidelines for pilots. The change comes in the wake of February’s Flight 3407 crash in Clarence, New York.
In order to improve safety, the House of Representatives have called for new measures so that pilots are more intensely trained for longer periods of time before they can fly commercially.
The new strategy requires pilots to train for 1500 hours of flight time before flying passengers, and will specifically teach them how to accommodate dangerous stalling moments like that of Flight 3407.
The bill passed with an overwhelming number of 409-11. Some representatives say that it’s too late to make legal tribute to the 50 victims, but others are confident that this action will make for safer flights in the future.
