Airport Overview

Kentucky’s second-busiest airport (after Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky), Louisville International Airport (SDF) is situated in the city of Louisville, in Jefferson County. The airport used to be called Standiford Field, but changed its name in 1995, hence its IATA code of SDF. Currently, the airport is home to Worldport, the worldwide hub for UPS Airlines, which operates cargo planes both in the United States and internationally.

Louisville International serves more than 3 million passengers per year, with non-stop flights to major cities all over the US. The airport is home to 11 major airlines, including American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Delta, US Airways and Vision Airlines.

While the airport has only a modest selection of amenities and services, the Altitude: A Travelers’ Club is a premier lounge with bargain rates for day visitors. If you have a few hours to pass, check-in here for some comfort, peace and free high-speed Internet access.

Getting into Town

Train: There are no trains that service the airport.

Bus: Transit Authority of River City (TARC) buses service the airport. Bus schedules are available from the information desk and exact change is required to ride the buses. The pick-up area is located on the island on the east side of the terminal.

Taxi: Taxis are available at the traffic island on the left of the taxi stand.

Car Parking

There are short-term, long-term, covered and uncovered parking options available. Garage parking is located directly opposite the terminal building and is divided into an Under Four Hours area on level 1 and an Over Four Hours area on levels 1 to 4. Parking is available in increments of under four hours, over four hours, full day and long-term parking with rates varying depending on location and duration of parking.

Information Desks

There is an information desk located on the lower level baggage claim area and there are volunteer Airport Ambassadors who can also help with any questions you might have.
