Flights to and from Denver are ending at Chicago Rockford International Airport, with the last Denver flight on Southern Skyways operating on August 18.
Airport authorities told the Associated Press that the Denver flights were only 60 percent full.
In addition, increasing fuel prices have led to higher costs, more expensive tickets and falling sales.
This is the third time services to and from Denver have ended abruptly.
In 2005, Hooters Air flew on the route but was replaced the next year by United Airlines, which in turn ended its flights in June this year to be replaced by Southern Skyways.
