If you’re getting ready for a surf school getaway to the beaches of Costa Rica, you may be in luck.

The latest workout craze –  Surfset Fitness – uses the RipSurfer X, a stationary surf board that lets you mimic the activity of riding waves – no water required.

Thankfully that means no wipe-outs either, though one challenging 45-minute session will leave you wiped as it engages the core, builds muscle and burns up to 900 calories. You’ll also learn how to do signature surf moves like “the pop up.”

Because the workout is done indoors, it can be found all over they country at select Crunch Fitness locations and various other gyms. For a location near you visit surfsetfitness.com.

After all that surfing prep, you’ll be ready to ride the waves at one of these beginner spots or at some of the world’s best remote surfing spots.
