No one wants to be without an income, but if you’re a victim to the economy what you do after you lose your job is entirely up to you.

While some stash cash, others take advantage of this new found freedom and explore the endless opportunities that await. Among them: travel. A quick getaway might be exactly what you need to clear your head before heading back into the job hunt.

If you’ve been out a job for more than six months, consider taking a little breather in Vermont. The Rabbit Hill Inn – a four-diamond AAA-rated inn and one of Top 12 inns worldwide – is hosting a “Pink Slip Getaway.”

From April to July, the Rabbit Hill Inn will give away six two-night getaways to their romantic B&B located in Waterford, VT. All you have to do is, well, get a pink slip.

The Rules: If you or a spouse has been unemployed for more than six months, Rabbit Hill Inn wants to hear the story. Simply send a one-page letter or email by June 1, 2009, explaining your story and why you need the weekend getaway, which includes dinner for two and a rabbit’s foot for good luck on your job search.

Get more information or file your claim on the Rabbit Hill Inn’s Web site.
