The sleepy New England state of Vermont begs visitors to disconnect from their smart phones and unwind in the natural beauty that sweeps across the state. The rugged state is filled almost entirely with mountain ranges and countryside, sprinkled with classic red farmhouses and colonial architecture that appears to have been largely untouched by time. Hiking trails, sparkling lakes and unbeatable fall foliage are just a few of the natural wonders waiting for you in Vermont. You’ll also find some of the country’s earliest colonial architecture. Grand homes and towering church steeples are staples of Vermont’s scenic backdrop, as are old-fashioned general stores and public squares.
As one would expect, the farmlands of Vermont churn out delicious local products. Artisanal cheeses, Vermont maple syrup and craft beers are just a few of the local treats Vermont is known for. One of the most famous local products to emerge from Vermont’s farms, though, is Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream. The Waterbury factory is open for tours, and this is where you can also pay tribute to your old favorites at the flavor graveyard.
