Originally a gift to the United States from France, the Statue of Liberty has long been an enduring symbol of freedom and the U.S.

Today, the Statue of Liberty celebrates its 127th birthday, after being dedicated by President Cleveland on Oct. 28, 1886.

Since its dedication, the Statue of Liberty has remained one of the most iconic attractions in New York. The 151-foot copper statue welcomed millions of immigrants who came to the U.S. through nearby Ellis Island, while a steady steam of tourists and visitors continue to hop on the ferry each day to visit the Statue and its pedestal. Whether you come to visit the pedestal and museum or climb the Statue’s crown, there’s no doubt you won’t soon forget a trip to the Statue of Liberty.
