Vietnam is a top travel destination if you’re looking to explore Southeast Asia, whether you’re coming for beaches, temples or a taste of the country’s moped-filled urban centers. The metropolitan cities of Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi offer both skyscrapers and temples side by side, and a touch of France’s enduring influence can be found in the patisseries selling fresh croissants and baguettes. For a better glimpse at Vietnam’s history, you can trek to Hoi An, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and beautifully preserved port town on Vietnam’s coast. Or, for a taste of the country’s natural wonders, you can spend a day or two at Halong Bay, another UNESCO site, where you can take in the striking limestone pillars by boat. The coastal city of Nha Trang is a diver’s paradise, and you can also take a boat out to the numerous islands lining the coast for a day of snorkeling and sightseeing.
