If you frequent the Remote or Long-Term lots at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport (CLT) it’s going to cost you significantly more to park.

Remote Lot parkers are in for a bit of sticker shock. Rates have doubled, from $3 per day to $6. Long-Term rates just went up too. Before mid-September, you could park on the Long-Term lot for $3 per day. Now, it’s $4.

In a prepared release, the Charlotte airport says the move is “To regulate demand for distinctive parking products.”

“The [previous] price of the Remote lot [was] unbalanced in comparison with the price of the Long Term lots. An adjustment in this price disparity is necessary to regulate demand for the Remote lot.”

Hourly and daily parking remain the same at CLT. The former maxes out at $16 per day; parking at the latter runs $1 per hour, with a maximum daily charge of $6.

Charlotte, a major hub for US Airways, says it last raised parking rates in 2005.
