Travelers on their way to the U.S. must comply with new U.S. Customs regulations beginning today, Jan. 12.

Non U.S.-citizens traveling to one of the 50 states are required to register online with the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA)
before their scheduled departure. The online registration process is
similar to the Customs forms travelers are required to fill out on
board the plane.

The ESTA is valid for two years and officials are reminding travelers to fill out their
Customs forms in advance of their flight or they may face a delay in their travel plans.

There is no charge to register online for ESTA.
