Ten new Transportation Security Administration (TSA) security lanes have opened at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in a bid to cut waiting times for passengers.
The airport opened four new self-select lanes in the south terminal and six in the north terminal. This takes the total number of the TSA-backed lanes at the airport up to 32.
New signs have been added in security areas to help passengers decide which lanes to use.
Experienced flyers familiar with the security process can use the Black Diamond lanes, while casual passengers with carry-on bags are directed to the Blue Square lanes.
Green Circle lanes are designed for passengers with young children or with any other special requirements.
Ben DeCosta, Aviation General Manager at the airport, said: “Hartsfield-Jackson’s goal is to exceed our customers’ expectations, and these new security checkpoint areas, security lanes and more convenient screening procedures will decrease checkpoint wait times.
“This $26 million investment will further enhance the overall efficiency of our airport making for an even more hassle-free experience for our customers.”
