Private charter carrier Hopscotch Air is planning a new service at Albany International Airport.

The New York-based airline is awaiting approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to launch a charter service to smaller airports such as Albany.

Hopscoth hopes to fly from New York’s metro airports to terminals up to 500 miles away using a four-seat Cirrus SR22 aircraft.

Anthony Schmertz, Chief Marketing Officer told The Business Review (Albany) that passengers would be charged per plane and not per passenger, with a typical fare $600 for each hour.

The service would be aimed at business travelers flying to and from New York City from nearby airports.

He commented: “Certainly there’s no shortage of stories in the media of the difficulty of flying in general. The idea here is you can pull up to your plane and be in the air in five or ten minutes.”
