Free wireless Internet services are to be expanded at Pittsburgh International Airport, the Allegheny County Airport Authority has confirmed.

Wi-Fi was first offered in the airport’s food court areas in September 2003, before being expanded to the airside terminal. According to the Beaver County Times, the service will also be added to the landside terminal’s baggage-claim area.

Tony Gialloreto, the Airport Authority’s Senior Manager of Information Technology, said that the upgrades cost less than $20,000: “We were the first airport in the country to offer free Wi-Fi service in 2003, and there still aren’t very many that do today.”

The free Wi-Fi service will be available for people with A, B or G network cards in their laptop or handheld device, and will also be accessible near the entrance doors of the moving walkway in the security-checkpoint level.
