Spring is finally here and the Windy City is officially defrosting, which means now is the perfect time to start planning a trip to Chicago. We’ve done the legwork and put together an itinerary for you!

Stay

The recently renovated Public Chicago was once the hangout for Old Hollywood’s who’s who. This sleek and modern boutique property has a location off Lake Shore Drive and the Magnificent Mile that can’t be beat. Another great boutique hotel with an enviable location is the Dana Hotel & Spa, a relaxing retreat in the middle of this bustling city.

Eat

You can’t come to Chicago without trying an authentic deep-dish pizza. Head to Lou Malnati’s for pies with flaky crusts, rich tomato sauce and juicy sausage. For hearty fare in a swanky setting, be sure to make a reservation at Girl and the Goat. Headed by Top Chef champ Stephanie Izard, the must-try here is the roasted pig face with a sunny side-up egg.

Do

The Magnificent Mile is perfect for those short on time, because you’ll hit some of the city’s best shops, restaurants, museums and architecture in one go. You can shop at designer stores, like Michael Kors and Gucci, at the 900 North Michigan Shops or try on Armani’s newest line at the chic Shops at North Bridge. In the afternoon, you can get inspired by the exhibits at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago or come face-to-face with a dolphin at the Shedd Aquarium. Or, unleash your inner geek at the Museum of Science and Industry, the largest science museum in the Western Hemisphere.

For the best views of the city, head to the John Hancock Observatory, where you’ll see Chicago’s iconic skyline from higher than 1,000 feet above ground.

Don’t miss a riverboat cruise down the Chicago River, where you’ll see some of the city’s best architecture; Chicago Line offers several daily tours.
