Despite the recession, JFK airport brings in stellar culinary experiences for travelers with a layover and an appetite. Quite unprecedented, Terminals 4, 5 and 8 have amplifies their dining options, bringing in big-name chefs and gourmet offerings.

According to the New York Daily News, nine full-service restaurants have entered JetBlue’s Terminal 5. Now, captive audiences have much more to munch on that fast food or granola bars – six celebrity chefs are turning up the heat each day and serving delectable fair to the terminal’s travelers. Some of the talked-about restaurants include Seafood Bar Caviar House in AirTran’s Terminal 4, AeroNuova Italian restaurant in JetBlue’s Terminal 5, and Bobby Van’s Steak House in Terminal 8.

According to recent statistics, Terminal 5 has generated the highest revenue per person in the entire history of United States’ airports.

So the next time you’re traveling to or from New York’s JFK Airport, be sure to stay a while and dig in.
