Travelers pay for all sorts of extras – turn-down services, fitness centers and wireless internet, but how much would most people pay for a hypoallergenic room?
Hyatt recently announced its addition of the specialty accommodations in all of their 125 North American properties, for an extra $20-30 per night.
Guests with allergies, asthma or desire to be as far away from germs as possible, can stay in one of the hotel’s 2,000 extra purified rooms and stay in an environment that will undergo a six-step cleaning process using products like tea tree oil, natural disinfectants, ventilation systems, an a blast of ozone to kick out lingering odors.
Adding a medical-grade air purification system that apparently eliminates 98 percent of airborne viruses, bacteria and pollen to the works doesn’t hurt either.
Why the fuss? Hyatt is taking cues from a study done by Cornell University that shows 83 percent of travelers prefer an allergen-free room.
