A bit of a dislocation if you’re bound for Terminal B at Boston Logan International. The upper level departure roadway is closed till Aug. 24, this as workers pave it and allow the concrete to cure. Massport, the entity that operates the airport, says in a prepared release that “This marks the last major roadway closure of Massport’s $55 million rehabilitation of the 37-year-old Terminal B garage and roadway system.”

Terminal B serves Virgin America, Air Canada, American, American Eagle, Frontier, Spirit, and US Airways.

The sky won’t fall as a result of the closure. Massport Director of Aviation Ed Freni says, “We will have extra personnel in place to assist passengers as they navigate the terminal during the construction.” Access to the parking garage won’t be affected by the temporary road closure, but curbside check-in for American and US Airways passengers will. It’s going into hibernation till the work’s finished. Both carriers will have more skycaps standing by to help folks with their luggage.

So how do you go about dropping off or picking up friends, relatives or colleagues during all this? Massport says you’ll be directed to the Terminal B garage. You’ll enter via a dedicated lane, and then be directed to passenger pick-up and drop-off areas. Not to worry, the airport says there will be no charge to pick up or drop off folks. You’ve just got to remember to stay with your vehicle at all times.

If you’re landing and Logan and someone’s picking you up in their own car, exit Terminal B on the lower level and take the crosswalk to the garage. Taking a taxi? They will remain at the terminal curb. Limos will pick up passengers on the lower level, at the U-turn bend in the roadway. Shared-ride vans will be inside the garage on the lower level.

Logan Express busses bound for Terminal B will use the lower roadway for pick up and drop off. Silver Line rail service won’t be affected by any of this.

Got all that? If not, ask.
