Airport Overview

Guam International Airport (GUM), officially known as Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport, is situated on the central part of the north coast of Guam. Everything is close by in Guam and the airport is no exception: it’s a mere three miles (5km) east of Agana (Hagatna), the capital city of Guam.

Guam International Airport was originally used as a military airport during World War II. In 1992, the first passenger terminal at the airport began to operate as travelers started to realize that Guam had more to offer in terms of beaches, sun and sea. The terminal consists of three levels: arrivals go through the basement level of the terminal, the second floor is mostly admin and the departure gates are located on the third floor.

The airport has served as the perfect base in Micronesia for Continental Airlines. The Antonio B. Won Pat International Guam Airport also serves ANA, China Airlines, Northwest Airlines and Japan Air Lines. Asia Pacific airlines also use the airport as a hub and operate many flights to Guam International. There are regular flights to Antonio B. Won Pat International Guam Airport for holidaymakers traveling from Australia, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, China and the United States.

Guam is a US overseas territory and the airport took its name from Antonio Borja Won Pat, a citizen of Guam, who was the first delegate to represent Guam in the US House of Representatives. The island is popular with tourists searching for an island getaway.

Terminal Transfer

There is only one terminal.

Getting into Town

Bus: Hotels provide courtesy shuttle buses for guests, but there are no public buses providing transport to and from the airport.

Taxi: The taxi pick-up zone is located outside the departures area. The 15-minute drive to Agana (Hagatna) generally costs US$15-20, but be prepared to bargain.

Car Parking

Parking is available at the airport. The first 15 minutes are free. It costs US$2 for up to 30 minutes and US$3 for 30 minutes to an hour. Hourly rates range from US$4 for two hours up to US$12 for the first 24 hours. Short-term parking between one and three days costs US$9 per day. Parking between three and seven days is US$8 per day and US$7 per day for more than seven days. A fee of US$12 will be charged for a lost parking ticket.

Information Desks

The information desks are located in the arrivals hall. Visitors can make use of a free hotel phoning service here, and there are a number of free multilingual brochures and pamphlets about the island and its beaches.

Airport Facilities

Money and communications: ATM facilities, a bureau de change and banks are available at the airport.

Luggage: The Guam International Airport does not have a left luggage facility. Passengers trying to locate lost luggage must contact the airline office at the airport.

Conference and business: Airline business lounges provide some facilities for a fee. The airport has conference facilities, but better facilities can be hired at nearby hotels. The Days Inn has business and conference amenities and is a short distance from the airport.

Other facilities: The airport has a first-aid facility available by contacting the information desk or airline employees.

Wi-Fi: Not available. Internet kiosks are available at the airport.

Shopping: Duty-free shops are located on the concourse level after check-in and security screening. These shops mostly stock vacation gifts and souvenirs for friends and family back home. The gift shops can be found between departure gates eight and nine.

Food and drink: The departures level and concourse are the only levels of the terminal with dining and drinking options. There are a number of restaurants catering for the Japanese palate; however, there are one or two places serving western food and a number of bars serving beer, spirits and cocktails – the perfect opportunity for a final cocktail after your island getaway.
