If eco-friendly travel is your pace, then you've got plenty of options, especially when it comes to hotels. iStayGreen.org announced this week that over 500 hotels in the world have earned a 3-Green Eco-Leaf rating from the site's self audit.

Welcome to the list the Maui Prince Hotel Makena Resort in Hawaii, which recently joined the green hotel family. The eco-rating systems allows the environmentally conscious traveler to
find the hotel that meets their needs. Each hotel is given a rating of
1- to 5-Leafs — five being the most any hotel can  acquire.

According to iStayGreen.org, only nine properties in the world have
earned the coveted 5 Green Eco-Leaf Rating: five in the United States
and one in Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, and Ecuador.

Some properties that have recently completed the online self-audit program include:

– Four Seasons Miami – Miami, FL
– Grand Hyatt New York – New York, NY
– Hilton Americas Houston – Houston, TX
– Crowne Plaza Mission Valley – San Diego, CA
– St Regis Resort Aspen – Aspen, CO
– Seaport Hotel and Seaport World – Boston, MA
– Fairmont Scottsdale Princess – Scottsdale, AZ
– Nita Lake Lodge – Whistler, Canada
– Hotel Chateau Laurier – Quebec, Canada

In a prepared press release, iStayGreen.org said that it anticipates over
1,000 properties will have received their 'green' rating by the middle of
summer.
