Got a best girlfriend you want to hang with for a while, wash away the workaday worries and focus on friendship? Savannah‘s the perfect place, and this is the prime time of year – before the late spring/early summer heat simmers this beautiful southern city.

First, start out staying a someplace secure. The city is replete with dozens of quiet, secure bed and breakfasts, as well as historic inns. Base of operations established, set out to explore the city. Walk with friends and head to Broughton Street, epicenter of the city’s fashion boutiques. If you must shop till you drop, drop in one of the Historic District’s spas. Refreshed, meander down to the Downtown Design District for an array of locally owned shops.

Fuel your excursions with decadent chocolate concoctions. Savannah has a sweet tooth. So serious are they that locals have even been known to imbibe chocolate martinis.

Savannah is famous for her womenfolk. Learn their history, and share their secrets with your sisters. Tell them about Mary Musgrove, the half-Creek, half-British translator who brokered peace between the colonists and Native Americans. Share the stories of Harriet Tubman who came to this place to show slaves the path to freedom. Follow the example of Juliette Gordon Low, founder of the Girl Scouts. Walk in their steps for a while, and then make tracks of your own.
