When it comes to high-tech, knock-your-socks-off horror there are those who’ll argue nobody comes close to Universal Studios Florida®. Halloween Horror Nights® is going on right now, and runs through Oct. 31. This is a specially ticketed event that aficionados of the awful hunger for each year more than zombies crave brains.

Fly into Orlando, check into your room and gird yourself for the ghoulish gathering.

Demons abound down in Orlando this time of year. Stare them down in the nightmare of Alice Cooper. Get nuked by legends Penn & Teller when a magic trick doesn’t quite work out. Slink up to Silent Hill and wind your way through a gauntlet of haunted houses, supremely scary zones and live shows.

If you’re one of those folks who flocks to the theater for the latest freaky horror film, shell out loads of hard-won cash on scary masks and garish face paint, this just may be Halloween’s most magnetic bash. It’s been going on since the early 1990s.

Over the years Halloween Horror Nights has spawned a slew of scary icons, such as Crypt Keeper. Other creepy characters include Jack the Clown, the Caretaker, the Director, the Storyteller, the Usher and Fear.

The great thing about Halloween Horror Nights is that it mutates year to year. What lurked behind that dark, dreary corner last year is vanquished. But up ahead in that seemingly safe corner lies something sinister. Refreshed horror means you never know from whence something wicked this way comes.

Orlando is one of the most accessible cities in the world by air. From small towns to large, there’s an excellent chance you’ll find a nonstop flight – particularly this time of year.
