While Berlin is a must-visit for history buffs, the city is also filled with plenty of fun ways to make some vacation memories. From jumping off a 400-foot building to industrial warehouse nightclubs and a river overflowing with pools, museums and ships, there’s plenty to keep you entertained in the German capital. Here are five fun ways to enjoy Berlin.

Base Flying Berlin

If your idea of fun includes a bit of adrenaline-pumping thrills, don’t miss your chance to jump off of Berlin’s tallest building by bungee cord. Base flying from 400 feet off the Park Inn Hotel is sure to get your blood pumping, but don’t confuse this with bungee jumping. Rather than plunge off the building with a couple of bounces, the base flying experience regulates how quickly you fall to the ground, stopping you just feet from certain concrete doom.

Photoautomaten

All around the city, photo booths (or photoautomaten in German) entice locals and visitors to pop behind the curtain for four candid shots. These booths use old-school analog film, giving your portraits that vintage feel. Don’t miss your chance to create a few black and white keepsakes on your trip.

Nightclubs

Looking for a bit of fun after dark? There are plenty of clubs and bars where you can drink and dance the night away, whether you’re into underground techno parties, sexy dance halls or good old-fashioned beer gardens. If you want to hang with thousands of partygoers as techno rages and celebs get down on the dance floor, check out the legendary Berghain nightclub. For less dancing and more brews, check out the city’s oldest beer garden, Prater Garten.

Hang out by the Spree

The Spree is a river that runs through Berlin, and it offers plenty of opportunities for fun. Take a cruise along the waters as you soak up the architecture or go for a swim in the Badeschiff, a floating pool in the middle of the river. For a drier afternoon of fun, you can head to Museum Island. This Spree island is home to five state museums, featuring everything from art to historic artifacts.

Berlin Zoo & Tiergarten

The entire family will have fun spending the day at the Berlin Zoo and the expansive Tiergarten park. The zoo is home to nearly 20,000 animals, including rare species like ring-tailed mongooses. After checking out the animals, you can spend the afternoon enjoying the walking paths, paddle boats and parks of Tiergarten.
