Two airports in Florida receive top marks from business flyers in a new poll.

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood (FLL) and Tampa International (TPA) were praised by passengers in the latest survey from Phoenix Marketing.

The firm’s Airport Net Promoter Scorecard (NPS) for the first three months of 2008 placed Tampa as the best “away airport”.

Travelers landing at the airport from other destinations in the country gave TPA an average score of 19.7 percent, well above the national average of -20.3 percent.

Fort Lauderdale scored highly with its hometown population, taking the highest score of 6.1 percent on the NPS.

More than 6,000 passengers took part in the study and rated airports on a number of factors including transport to and between terminals, terminal facilities and baggage handling.

Customers were then asked whether or not they would recommend their home town airport and which away airport they would recommend.

Scott Ludwigsen, Executive Vice-President of Phoenix Travel Research Group, explained: “We classified the travelers into Promoters, Passives, and Detractors. The NPS for each facility is derived by subtracting the percent of detractors from the percent of promoters.”
