Plans have been revealed to place a curfew on flights at Bob Hope Airport in Burbank, California.

The Burbank-Glendale Pasadena Airport Authority has voted in favor of a motion to consider a ban on all flights at the airport between the hours of 10pm and 7am.

A 45-day period of public comment will now take place from March 31, with a public workshop on April 14 and a public hearing on May 12. Following this, the authority intends to submit the plans to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for a final ruling on the proposed curfew, reports the Burbank Leader.

The FAA will then take up to six months to make its decision.

Charles Lombardo, Burbank Airport Commissioner, explained that the move is “what we told the public we would do”, but could pose problems to the industry as, if approved, the curfew could “set a precedent” to other airports and potentially “create chaos”.
