Washington Dulles International (IAD) has experienced dramatic growth in recent years. To help accommodate all that growth, there are a couple of infrastructure developments at United Airlines’ East Coast hub:
– There’s a USO Lounge at IAD. The United States Service Organization is serving military men and women, and their families, from a site on the Arrivals Level. You’ll find it just across from Baggage Claim #12, and it’s open from 6am to 10pm. Information: 1-703-572-4876;
– It’s easy to lose something at the airport, perhaps easier than ever because of all the rules to which you have to adhere. If it happens to you, go to the newly relocated Lost and Found. It’s on the baggage claim level, just across from Bag Claim #1. The site is open Monday through Friday from 9am to 3pm, and Saturdays from 10am to 2pm. Information: 1-703-572-8479.
If you’re looking to avoid the most congested time at Dulles, when security lines are longest, see if you can book a flight somewhere outside of these windows: 5:30am to 8am; 11am to 1pm; and 4:30pm to 6:30pm. Want the quietest time of the week? Try a Saturday morning sojourn.
