The latest news from New York airports comes from the Department of Transportation (DOT), who called for New York airports to reduce the number of New York flights operating at LaGuardia Airport in New York in an effort to reduce flight delays and airport congestion.
DOT Transportation Secretary Mary Peters said: “Too many flyers know that LaGuardia’s delays are the worst of the worst, and we want to use every tool at our disposal to help passengers stuck with this grueling congestion.”
New York flights to and from LaGuardia will be cut from 75 to 71 per hour starting April 2009.
In a recent report, LaGuardia came in last on the list of 32 U.S. airports reporting on-time arrivals.
