Passengers at Detroit Metropolitan Airport will soon be able to travel between terminals on environmentally friendly shuttle buses.

The airport announced the delivery of two hydrogen-powered vehicles from the Ford Motor Company this week. Officials from Ford joined representatives from the Wayne County Airport Authority and Congressman John Dingell to reveal the Hydrogen Combustion Engine (H2ICE) terminal-to-terminal buses.

The buses offer a clean, green method of transport and will help to reduce carbon emissions by 99.7 percent, compared to regular gasoline-powered vehicles.

Support for the project came from the airport authority, the Department of Energy and the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG).

Congressman Dingell, said: “I’m so glad that people coming through Detroit Metropolitan Airport will see this fine example of American engineering when they visit.

“The airport and SEMCOG are also to be commended for helping protect our environment and deserve credit for their fine work on this project.”
