Airport Overview

Dallas Fort-Worth International Airport (DFW), situated between the two cities it’s named after, is the major airport in the US state of Texas, and also claims the title of third busiest airport in the world, in terms of aircraft movements.

This sizeable airport covers more than 7,000 hectares, and has had to employ a rail service to ease transportation between its five terminals. Flights to Dallas-Fort Worth Airport serve 46 international destinations, and 144 within the US.

The facility has done a fantastic job of adapting to the high activity and has plenty to amuse travelers – from ample shopping and dining opportunities to the cultural flavor of the airport’s selection of art.

Despite being huge and sometimes difficult to navigate, Dallas Fort-Worth International Airport manages to maintain that personal touch with appreciated gestures such as handing out cots to passengers who end up staying in the expansive airport overnight. As many satisfied commuters will tell you, it’s often the little details that count.

Terminal Transfer

There are two options for getting between Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport’s five terminals. Skylink is a high-speed train that will zip you to your destination terminal in less than five minutes. Each terminal has two stations. Terminal Link is a van service with pick up/ drop off areas located outside the baggage claim area of each terminal. Both services are free.

Getting into Town

Taxi: A taxi service is available on the upper level of Terminals A, B, C and E, and on the lower level of Terminal D. It is approximately a $48 flat-rate to and from locations within the Fort Worth Central Business District.

Train: The Trinity Railway Express runs past Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport all week except for Sunday.

Bus: The Airporter shuttle service is available at all major downtown Fort Worth hotels. The Airporter boarding area is located on the upper level of each terminal in the Yellow Checker Shuttle loading zones, with two convenient locations at each terminal.

Car Parking

There are several different options available for parking at this airport, including valet services, express parking and remote parking.

Information Desks

Interactive visitor information centers are located near the baggage reclaim areas, but if you aren’t able to find what you’re looking for, locate an airport ambassador. A Travelers’ Aid office is located in Terminal D, near the D15 bag claim.

Airport Facilities

Money and communications: There are several ATMs, both inside and outside security. FedEx drop boxes are located outside gates A20, B14, C2, D23 and E14. Pre-paid long-distance phone cards are available in all terminals, as well as TDD phones. If you need to exchange currency, there are several Travelex booths located in terminal D, nearby gates D11, D22 (Outside Security), D24 and D36.

Luggage: Baggage carts are available in all terminals.

Conference and business: Faxing facilities are located at the Guest Services Center at B14, as well as at B30 and D13 baggage claims. There are several Samsung mobile travel centers which offer things like work counters, semi-private workstations, electricity and phone outlets at each seat, Wi-Fi and dial-up internet access. The Hyatt Regency DFW Hotel has comprehensive business facilities, as well as 62 meeting rooms at hand.

Shopping: There’s no shortage of shopping at Dallas-Fort Worth, with more than 100 stores for your perusal. For great Texas souvenirs check out the Lone Star Emporium or the Official Dallas Cowboys pro shop, and the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory is always a must.

Food and drink: There’s no ways you’ll go hungry at Dallas-Fort Worth, with more than 120 eateries to pick from, and everything from a quick sandwich and juice to cheese and wine tastings available. The Grand Met serves some pretty sophisticated fare if you’re in the mood for something special; while if you’re just looking for a snack, Auntie Anne’s Pretzels are great.
