Boingo Wireless just landed at a pair of Washington, DC airports. Reagan Washington National (DCA) and Washington Dulles International (IAD) flyers can now log on via Boingo – for a price.
The rate is $4.95 per hour, or $7.95 for 24 hours of Wi-Fi access to more than 100,000 hotspots. Wider reach? For $21.95 per month the company connects you to thousands of hotspots in North and South America. Boingo Global is a $39 per-month deal that provides access to the company’s worldwide partner network. The Wi-Fi provider says the move into DCA and IAD now gives its users, “access to every major airport on the Eastern Seaboard.”
There’s an interesting debate going on among airport executives in this country just now as to the benefits of providing free Wi-Fi for passengers. Some airports, such as New Orleans (MSY) and Birmingham (BHM), offer it. Others, such as Reagan National and Dulles, don’t. You’ve got to pay. What do you think? Would you choose to fly through an airport that offers free Wi-Fi as opposed to one that doesn’t? Is it that important? Tell us in the comment section just below this article.
