There are bountiful ways to cruise on San Francisco Bay.

Start with the top rung and book Hornblower’s Champagne Brunch Cruise. It’s a terrific way to begin the day. The buffet is laden with lots of classic breakfast fare, as well as luncheon entrées and desserts. The music is live, not canned. Same with the vistas. Nothing’s virtual here. It’s all live. While sparkling wine is included in the $68 per-person price, wine, beer and cocktails will cost you extra.

This reporter’s favorite outings are mini-voyages across the bay to either Tiburon or Sausalito via the Blue & Gold Fleet. Tiburon serves up sensational cross-bay views of San Francisco, semi-shrouded in the fog. There are some great dockside restaurants, including Guaymas, which offers sublime California Mexican cuisine. Blue & Gold also stops at Angel Island, a supernatural nature park set amidst the bay.

If you don’t have a bunch of time to explore the bay consider the Red & White Fleet’s 90-minute 2 Bridge Cruise (SM). It’s a great way to celebrate the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, as well as get an up-close and personal look at the San Francisco Bay Bridge. The listen-as-you-go narrative will tell you about the bay’s geology and how the city’s structures have been designed to withstand earthquakes. Red and White also puts on a relaxed 2-hour California Sunset Cruise (SM), a voyage where the SF skyline comes alive with light and shadows.
